Prescribed burning removes old vegetation to make room for new growth. It also shifts soil nutrients to a state more favorable to prairie species and helps reduce the spread of invasive and pest species. In 2024 the Iowa Sportsman’s Club worked on prescribed burns on over 300 acres of native grass plantings.
