THIRTEENTH WEEK OF THE LEGISLATIVE SESSION
It was a relatively light week at the Capitol. The House wrapped up its work by Wednesday, while the Senate completed most of its agenda earlier in the week.
We’re now at the point in the session where both chambers are finalizing budget targets and working to complete priority legislation. Each chamber has its own set of priorities, and collaboration is key to bringing everything together.
The next couple of weeks are expected to follow a similar pace, as lawmakers continue negotiating the budget and other top legislative issues.
LEGISLATIVE ISSUES
The legislature is currently focused on setting the overall budget number and determining how funds will be allocated across individual budgets. Other key legislative priorities, such as property tax reform, are also being finalized.
Policy bills are under consideration as well, with some expected to become part of the negotiations between the House and Senate.
While both chambers held debate this week, most of the bills discussed were noncontroversial.
There’s growing speculation that the workload could remain light over the next week or so, as leaders from both chambers focus on negotiating the budget and remaining policy items.

MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD
We’re in a slower phase of the legislative session right now, as lawmakers focus on deciding which policy bills will move forward and which won’t. While it may seem like things have quieted down, this is still a critical time for advocacy. It’s important to continue reaching out to your legislators and reminding them of the issues that matter most to you. They need to hear from their constituents so they can bring those priorities to leadership during internal negotiations.
Here are the outstanding legislative priorities for ISC:
• Eliminate Celebrity Deer Tag (SF 424 – add as amendment to HF 885)
• Landowner/tenant tags (SF 555)
• Forest Reserve (SF 219 – we have provided amendment language to strengthen this bill)
Once budget targets are finalized, things will move fast—bills will be decided quickly, and final deals will come together in a matter of days. Keeping your legislators informed now ensures they’re ready to advocate for ISC legislation when the moment comes. Your efforts have brought us this far, and we’re in the home stretch. Let’s keep the momentum going and finish strong!
